What is Manual Osteopathy?
Manual osteopathy is a holistic, hands-on manual therapy that treats the body as a whole. It aims to relieve pain, restore function, and improve overall health and well-being. It is a unique approach to manual therapy that aims to treat the cause of the symptom rather than simply reducing it temporarily.
Using gentle but effective hands-on techniques, such as craniosacral therapy, visceral therapy, myofascial release, and a somatic approach, we focus on:
* Reducing pain, discomfort, and inflammation
* Improving mobility and posture-related issues
* Enhancing circulation and nervous system function
Examples of conditions which could be helped through our manual holistic approach include:
Common ailments of office workers
Neck, pelvic, joint and back pain
Concussions, headaches/migraines
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Postural imbalances
Sciatica
Digestive and menstrual issues (e.g. PMS)
Prenatal/postpartum care
Fibromyalgia
Sleep and stress-related issues
Where in Ottawa do you provide services?
We serve the entire Ottawa area, including downtown, Kanata, Nepean, Orleans, and surrounding suburbs. Let us know if you have specific location inquiries.
Are treatments covered by insurance?
Many public service and private sector employees in Ottawa have coverage for osteopathic sessions through extended health plans. Please confirm with your HR department or insurance provider. However, some businesses/institutions may choose to pay directly for our services, so that their employees don't have to pay or use their extended health benefits coverage.
Do you provide equipment or need special facilities?
We bring all necessary equipment, including a portable treatment table and any necessary supplies. We only require a quiet, private space to set up.
How long does each session last?
Sessions typically last 30–60 minutes, depending on the working/living environment schedule, individual’s needs and treatment goals.
Are sessions safe for seniors and children?
Yes. We customize our approach to be gentle and appropriate for any age group or health condition.
Is the service available in both English and French?
Yes, we offer services and coordination in both official languages.
What should clients wear during the session?
As treatments are done over clothing, often there is no need to change for the sessions. Clothing that allows full body movement easily and access to the treatment area is ideal (e.g., pants are recommended if work on lower extremities is needed).
